Designer. Creative Problem Solver. Relentless Perfectionist.

I’m Daniel Alm - a perfectionist, a visionary, and someone who welcomes the hard problems. From concept to final detail, I believe design is a tool for clarity, not noise. As the founder of Nocs, I’ve created award-winning products that challenge conventions and stand the test of time. I care deeply about materials, process, and building things that matter.

Monolith was created with a singular purpose: to deliver presence—visually and sonically. Sculpted with brutalist precision and tuned with studio-grade finesse, it merges timeless design with immersive, room-filling sound. A speaker that doesn’t just play music, but inhabits space.

SECONDS

A meditation on time. By muting the hours and minutes, and allowing only the seconds hand to move in silence, the design invites a shift in perception—away from urgency, toward presence. A minimalist statement piece that honors the moment.

Awards

  • Born of the desire to bring the immersive sound of the Monolith to an ultra compact format and to offer our cutting-edge technology to a wider audience. Crafted with precision by our dedicated team at Nocs, the Monolith Aluminum embodies a blend of minimalist design, audio excellence, and environmental responsibility.

  • "We are thrilled to announce that the Nocs Monolith Aluminum speaker has been awarded Highly Commended in the Most Masterful Music Device (In the Home) category of the prestigious Wallpaper* Smart Space Awards. An impressive piece of industrial design, the Monolith Aluminum is to be commended for its build quality and use of materials. "

  • “The Monolith is infused with personality,” said the jury. “We were very impressed by the careful and quality craftsmanship that goes into making each product.”

  • The design challenge was to create a speaker that incorporates a proper wooden enclosure, while also limiting the number of printed circuit boards (PCBs) involved, making assembly and disassembly easy, and utilizing environmentally friendly oils for the surface finish. The goal is to minimize the number of manufacturing parties involved, reducing the need for freights and decreasing the overall carbon footprint of the product. By addressing these challenges, a sustainable and easy-to-use speaker can be created, offering a better experience for both manufacturing and the end user.
